In February we held our first Date Night at the Gallery. Many of you braved the harsh weather, snow banks, and icy roads to make our first event of the year a huge success. So much so we went on to host two more Date Nights due to popular demand.
Throughout the year we added new artists and new art for your enjoyment and you had the opportunity to meet a few up close and personal. We held exhibit receptions for Sherry Russo of Northern Virginia, Bernie Houston of Laurel, Maryland, Richard Allison and Judy Markel both residents of Red Lion. You discussed with them the thinking behind their art, their creative processes, and the art itself.
Four of our artists donated time and talent to create painted doors with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit York Habitat for Humanity. One door is already gone, three doors are still available and will be re-listed on eBay in early February, 2011. More to follow.
We teamed up with Kerry’s Green as our own Mike Anthony took on the job of hosting comedy nights twice a month at the former Red Lion Country Club, which culminated with a New Year’s Eve comedy event. Check out Kerry’s Green website to see the upcoming schedule so you can get your laugh on.
In October we celebrated our first anniversary, A Red Carpet Affair. Many of our supporters who joined us on the Red Carpet were met by our “Paparazzi”, care of Life Matters Studio, and enjoyed live music by the band Five/Four, light fare from Southern County Catering and of course the art of 30 artists and featured artist Cheryl Handy. It was truly a gala event.
